People are often stunned when they hear that we are launching our first series of Global Action and Awareness trips in Haiti, a country whose international reputation has been tied for many years to two things: poverty and political strife.

I usually tell these same people there's everything to see and this is the ideal time to travel to Haiti. Having been off the tourist circuit for so long, Haiti offers an authentic down home experience like no other destination in the Caribbean. A land of mountains and beaches, its home to countless spots that will leave the adventure seeker starry eyed and be the object of many daydreams.

Haiti's relative isolation has had other "benefits" you might say. For example, it has enabled a culture that is bustling with creativity and change, making Haiti a veritable epicenter of art in the region. It has also allowed the country to maintain traditions that are hundreds of years old.

One of those traditions is Rum. Haiti has been producing Rum for hundred's of years and boasts some of the world's premier and most distinguished brands. To celebrate the launch of our Global Action and Awareness trips to the country, we will be hosting our first ever Rumfest in collaboration with the Shoptalk and Art Gallery on Friday, September 4th at 6:00 pm.

This event will feature a tasting of the spirit and a talk on its history, including its links to pirates and the slave trade.
